1955 Plus 4 Twin Spare 1955 Morgan Plus 4 =96 Chassis number 3209 This is a rare twin spare, curved cowl Plus 4; believed to be one of =20 about 47 =93transition=94 models of this type built. Originally = delivered =20 by the factory to Harvey Lane Garage, Norwich, UK on February 2, 1955 =20= and sold for 1666.60 GBP. Shipped by its owner, a US Air Force =20 officer, to the USA in March 1958. The original TR-2 engine (TS2933) =20= was replaced with a rebuilt and balanced early TR-4 engine (CT334E) in =20= 1993 when the car was restored. The restoration included all new wood, =20= new body panels, fenders, cowl, new wiring harness, new steel wheels =20 (six) and hub caps, exhaust system, king pins, Brooklands steering =20 wheel, brakes, seats, carpets, leather upholstery, top, full tonneau, =20= side curtains, and much more; most parts supplied by Melvin Rutter, UK. =20= Since then the car has always been garaged and driven frequently but =20= very little, perhaps less than 3,000 miles. It is estimated (based on =20= tire wear) that the car has been driven about 5K to 8K miles since the =20= 6 Pirelli tir es on the car were purchased in 1976. The following additional work =20= has been completed more recently: all instruments have been rebuilt, =20 fuel system completely rebuilt, new reduction starter motor, new =20 radiator hoses, complete braking system (master and all wheels) =20 rebuilt, new distributor; all recent work was done by Gregg Solow=92s =20= Engine Room, Santa Cruz, CA. This car is an excellent driver, is quite =20= fast and very reliable. The original Moss transmission (850) shifts =20 well and seems to be in excellent condition. This is not a concours =20 car but it is an excellent road car that really attracts a lot of =20 attention and is great fun to drive. The full history of the car=92s =20= owners and service work completed over the years is available. The =20 total mileage on the car is, however, unknown.
